On Sunday 9th November Phillippa Crofts will be taking on the Dorney Lake 10k in memory of her Grandad, Bill Hiscock, who suddenly passed away at the beginning of the year..
On 22nd January 2025 Bill was admitted to ICU at the Wessex Neurological Centre after suffering a sudden bleed on the brain and subsequently underwent surgery to drain the fluid from his brain. Over the next weeks it was a turbulent journey, and despite showing improvement in the first week, it was a rocky road after the drain was removed, and ultimately an infection made its way into Bills brain, and he passed away on the 15th February.
Phillippa has chosen to support Smile4Wessex as a thank you for the care that her Grandad received at the Wessex Neurological Centre, and especially for the flexibility the nurses and doctors allowed them as a family in being with her Grandad as much as possible during those weeks. Phillippa will be joined on the start line by her partner Sean as they take on this challenge together.
Dorney Lake is situated near the village of Dorney in Buckinghamshire. It is a purpose-built rowing lake and the home of London 2012′s Olympic rowing events.
