From the 7th-10th August, Andrew Benson will be supporting a team of cyclists are cycling 300 miles from The White Horse in Hermitage to the Eiffel Tower in Paris. This is a trip that has taken place every two years since 2013, growing in size every event!
This year they have chosen to support two charities... Smile4Wessex and the Hampshire and Isle of White Air Ambulance.
This event started following one team member, Chris West, being involved in a car accident, and both charities saved Chris’s life, and supported him through his long and difficult recovery. Amazingly, Chris is cycling the 300 miles to Paris with the team this year!!
Both charities are also especially important to Andrew, as on the 16th April this year, his daughter Hannah fell from her horse, sustaining head injuries and was airlifted to the Wessex Neurological Centre in Southampton, where she contiues to recover. Andrew firmly believes that she is only alive today because of the swift action of her colleagues, the air ambulance service and Wessex Neurological Centre.
They will hold a party at The White Horse in Hermitage on the 11th August from 5pm with live music, food to welcome the cyclists back.
