Our Team

Neil Westbrook – Neil was appointed by the Board of Trustees in April 2004, initially in a part-time capacity, but since September 2006 in the full-time role of Appeals Co-ordinator/Director. Neil, who previously owned and ran a successful marketing communications business, is a close friend of the Bowler family, in memory of whose son, Richard, the original ‘Smile4Rich’ appeals were launched. Neil is responsible for promoting awareness of the charity and its objectives, organising major fundraising events, developing corporate support, and managing the day-to-day operations of the charity. He is regularly booked as a guest speaker by Rotary Clubs and other associations, and his infectious enthusiasm for the work of the Wessex Neurological Centre and Smile4Wessex is invariably well received.

Kathryn Grimes - Kathryn hails from the Isle of Wight and joined Smile4Wessex in February 2018. In her role as Community Fundraising Officer, Kathryn will liaise with and support the activities of our many community fundraisers, assist with co-ordinating and promoting events, and develop the charity's social media activity. Working from the Smile4Wessex office within the Neurological Centre on a regular basis, Kathryn is no stranger to hospital life, having spent the past 10 years working within the NHS as a PA/Senior Medical Secretary to a number of consultants. But Kathryn also has a real passion for charity work, having founded a small charity on the Isle of Wight which provides support to Island residents living with brain tumours. The opportunity to work for Smile4Wessex excites Kathryn, and her previous experience made her the ideal candidate for this pivotal role in the future development of the charity.

Community Volunteers - Neil and Kathryn are assisted on an ad hoc basis by a variety of community volunteers, and by members of staff from the WNC, all of whom give their time freely and without whose help many of our fundraising activities would not be possible.

If you would like to volunteer your time then Neil or Kathryn would be delighted to hear from you. Please click HERE for our contact details.
